Sunday J. eight years, much to the positive moves: Aromatherapy is a complementary therapies now recognized much better than it was the turn of the millennium.

In many hospitals, nursing homes in Germany, Switzerland and Austria has established itself firmly and aromatherapy has been used successfully. Today, many well-trained aromatherapy professional care and competence to work with essential oils for the benefit and the benefit of patients. Undoubtedly the highest level there is now some cantons in Switzerland.

In Austria, training is experiencing a boom, the research on the mode of action of essential oils is in the Alpine republic strongly for many years. In Germany we register to be a dramatic North-South divide: Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg are considered strongholds of the aroma therapy, little is happening now in the far north.

The fashionable and trendy and at the same superficial propagation of aromatherapy, which had drawn a flood of books, courses and aroma consumer products for safety, has waned considerably, many aromatherapy books for lay people - many less substantial trade books - have disappeared from the market. At the same time serious confrontation increased greatly with the therapeutic use of essential oils and promoted their acceptance in the medical and nursing professions.

A number of methodological quality scientific studies have now demonstrated the effectiveness of essential oils in therapy - and how responsibly one has to deal with the substances. Numerous medical school, which years ago, the aroma therapy or disparagingly dismissed as a "placebo Medicine", in the meantime can think again.

So there were plenty of reasons, this reference book to revise the now classic for professional users, thorough and expand. In the new edition I have used a lot of experience from the day's work in hospitals and homes. I have tried the questions, concerns and needs of Nurses as well as by the participants of our training courses take up and to address the benefit of as many readers.

Since aromatherapy increasingly used in the elderly, psychiatry and is also in the palliative care, first described applications in these areas. Best oils for all uses in aromatherapy are combined into a new, clear table.

have motivated me while writing the many positive reactions from readers. Be particularly helpful for the practical work is often praised the "list of ingredients and effects of essential oils", many examples are differentiated for the administration in therapy. This synopsis shall therefore also in the new edition of space.

Wherever possible, the first time the impact and effects of oils by the systematic reference to the relevant and current scientific studies is demonstrated. Unfortunately, most scientific research on essential oils are currently being published only in English, I have the current study therefore fund carefully filtered and processed in the context-related book. References to the serious research results are also a help for any discussions between medical and nursing departments.

Some readers have sighed in working through, given the depth of knowledge of the discipline and the scope of what an aroma therapist know and must master. My advice in this case everyone: Do not be discouraged, the effort is worthwhile. That one could learn the aroma therapy on two weekends, as will be advertised on the Internet and over again in the real world, I think window dressing and hollow marketing. And that even entire pages can be found in this book in the course materials, I consider it a compliment.

is for me aromatherapy for a lot more than "just" for healing. use of essential oils, enriched and provides - even in suffering - a piece of Quality of life. Aromatherapy also means well-being, care, fragrance and warmth. Aromatherapy also inspired the work of nurses. It strengthens their skills and evaluates the nursing tasks.

My colleague Jane Buckle has set the goal of aromatherapy once aptly: "Bringing care back into health care." In order to translate it freely: we have the health care back care, diligence, prudence and attentiveness. This may include aromatherapy help much.
